fast food, old friends...

One day off from school and we hit the closest McDonald's. Even Ben recognizes their logo. I just thought I'd post this picture since I'm rarely in front of the camera (and now you see why....ha). We were so excited to visit with our friends (like family) from our old church....that it made me realize how quickly time passes (Sarah was Ben's age when we left.) Having a day off in the middle of the week was great!

pinwheels for peace....

I'm sure Hallmark makes a card for this too.....Pinwheels for Peace Day. I do like this project the kids do at school. It's a little corny but at least it's 'artsy' and does promote not being mean on the playground. All across the nation any school that wants to participate plants their "pinwheels" on the same day and the kids write about peace and what that means. It may seem a little Beaver Cleaver but seeing hundreds of colored pinwheels is pretty neat. After posting these pictures I'm thinking I should have titled Sarah's picture...pinwheels for pigtails (whew. I must have been running late that morning.....)

"mommy....!"

I was at the store the other day and Ben proceeded to say over and over and OVER what 'sounded' like "mommy." The woman behind me in line commented how sweet it was that he seemed to really love his mommy. I didn't have the heart to ruin it for her.....he was actually gripping 2 pennies with white knuckles and was thrilled to be holding "money." So, of course, Ben's new FAVORITE toy.....a singing piggy bank. His friend had one and I gave in and bought him one. At least it's not a singing credit card.

Merry Halloween!

Here are the kids on the first day of school....not too long ago really. The fall weather is slowly moving in and so are the Christmas decorations! Seriously.....Christmas? I'm buying bags of Halloween candy and nativity scenes. That just doesn't seem right. I'm barely ready for fall - rushing to buy jeans and sweatshirts....and the year is quickly coming to an end.

As for the kids Ben just had his 2 year check-up. He has finally moved up on the percentage chart.....from a whopping 10% to the 50% of weight and height. Sarah has moved up the scale of humor. At her parent-teacher conference the teacher said, "She's very witty. Most of the time she's the only one who gets my jokes." And Caleb is still off the charts with height and weight (almost being taller than several teachers at school.)

Other than my run in with Christmas and Halloween decorations on the same aisle there is nothing more to report. Merry Halloween!

down the drain

Sometimes the kids are so nice with each other that I just want to jump in and take credit...then there are other times I tell Rob that 'his kids' are at it again.

Sarah has
to read 100 books for first grade so EVERYONE is reading, Ben, Caleb, Webkinz, Maggie. Ben must have been bored with all that reading and decided to brush his teeth...with ALL of our toothpaste. I was doing laundry (surprise) thinking the kids were all reading. I was having one of those 'isn't this nice' moments. I was wrong. Funny - that's the first time.

Oh wel
l, the toothpaste picture is the only 'real time' action shot. The other reading pictures are from the last few weeks. I guess taking Ben's picture didn't exactly send the message that this was not a good idea. There goes another parenting moment down the drain...with a whole tube of toothpaste.

Blog Pressure

Picking out a blog template is like shopping for a prom dress...too dark, too much going on, too plain, not my color. gee whiz. I just wanted to slap up a few pictures so all of my friends (both of them) could go on-line and see how cute my kids are.

I can see I will quickly become very addicted to this blog thing. You know me, I love to talk so this will act as a form of communication. Hopefully it will relieve my local friends when it comes to me running my mouth. (did I just hear half my neighborhood cheering?)

I think I will call it quits for the night. I'm tired and actually have nothing else to say.....yes, it did just freeze over.

day one

Well, for 2 Mac crazy people you think we would have started a blog much earlier but I'm going to try this.....for now. It's a good way to procrastinate.
